Do you want to be connected with fellow parishioners on a daily basis?  Perhaps you have news to share that can’t want for Sunday. Do you feel that sometimes you miss out on changes to the calendar or you forgot it was time for a Sunday Breakfast?  Do you want to know what groups need help during the year?

We have set up a Yahoo group for parishioners to connect daily with each other and for groups to effectively communicate to the wider parish on upcoming events. This site allows each member to post messages to the group, post and view photos (we have an album from St. Patrick’s Day dinner and the Father’s Day Picnic), view and edit calendar events (see the calendar daily, weekly, monthly, etc), add your own group events and send reminders for meetings or solicit involvement for a specific task, find a link to a resource connected to our church interests…and much more!

The group set-up within Yahoo is just a tool for communicating. Each member needs to sign up to be in the group and there are 2 ways to do this. One way is to go to www.yahoogroups.com and search for StThomas_Dover@yahoogroups.com (under score_ between Thomas and Dover).  When you get to the groups home page you can join the group by registering.  To register you must fill out all the personal information specified.  If you stop short your registration will not go through all the way. The other way is to send Judi Turner an email so that she can send you an “invitation” to join.  This invitation will provide you the direct link to the group (which is unlisted, otherwise) and you will be automatically approved to join for 30 days.  This invitation expires in that time and so we encourage you to join the group when you receive the invitation. There is a print out stepping you through the registration process and Judi will make herself available on Sundays this fall to help you get signed up for the group.  Each member controls their own profile and setting related to their membership and you will never get “spam” or any unrelated messages by signing up for the group.

Each member will have the privileges to post messages, links, photos, events.  At any time you can change your profile settings to update your email address, etc.  This is a FREE service and it could be very helpful in connecting within our parish community. It will work best if each member joins the group (minors can join but need parental approval at the time of sign-up). Talk to Judi about joining, to get a print out of the registration or to get help stepping you through the sign-up process.

If you do not have a computer or internet access, you can still join!  The service is free and you can use a computer and internet free of charge at the Dover Public Library or your local library may also make computers available for public use. Because all the messages postings and group information is on the Yahoo site, you can access our information from any computer in the world through the internet.
